Slough Creek

Saranac Lake, NY-based quartet defined by tight harmonies and hold-onto-your-hat instrumental breaks. With songs rooted in place, Slough Creek transports listeners to the sagebrush steppe of Wyoming, woodland streams of the Midwest, salt marsh flats of New England, and the sloughs, fens, bogs, and mires of their Adirondack home.

Brought together by their love of wild places and the power of a good tune, their music bridges contemporary roots music traditions. If you ask each of our four band mates to tell you what kind of music we play, you might just get an answer for every day of the week.

Meet the band

Slough Creek is led by singer-songwriter Charlie Reinertsen on vocals and rhythm guitar. Marion Hoelzel provides intricate countermelodies on the banjo while singing harmonies that breathe life into each song. Bill Chamberlain provides the pepper and sizzle with dazzling mandolin work, and Jon Zander holds the entire band together through tight bass and masterful instrumental arrangements.

Slough Creek is available for booking public and private shows in solo singer-songwriter, duo, trio, and full-band quartet arrangements.

We had a blast headlining for the first-ever Hoot Show celebrating two years of the Saranac Lake Hootenanny. The Hoot has been bringing together talent from the North Country and beyond, and it’s where members of Slough Creek first met and started to play together. It was only fitting that we made our public debut on the Hoot stage.
